ITT Defence Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of ITT and operates under the control of ITT Communications Systems. It supports the US based ITT Defense & Electronics’ interests in radar, night vision, airborne electronic warfare equipment, satellite ground stations, support and communications equipment in the UK. ITT is proud of its heritage as a world leader in engineering and manufacturing, and is especially proud of the 40,000 ITT employees around the world who bring their own diligence and expertise to meet customers’ needs.
ITT Defence Limited was formed in 1993 as a Systems Integration Company with particular interest in Tactical Communications. ITT Defence Limited is the supplier of the VHF and UHF radios and associated networking capability for BOWMAN, the MoD Tactical Communication System that is providing the infrastructure for the UK Battlefield Digitisation Programme. ITT Defence Limited is addressing International Sales for its communications products and services. It also provides a UK/European support base for the US based Defense Division, both Night Vision and Electronic Systems have facilities in the UK office.
ITT Defence Limited is currently the UK Night Vision (ITT) Maintenance and Repair Centre for all the UK MODs Ground Based ITT Night Vision equipment.
Future plans propose to expand this facility to include an enhanced ITT Night Vision equipment portfolio, assembly of Night Vision products in the UK, and to offer our repair and maintenance services to a greater range of international customers.
ITT is a world leader in developing, manufacturing and servicing radar systems for air traffic control and air defence environments. Today ITT through Electronic Systems (Gilfillan) offers a full complement of military and civilian radar systems, advanced displays and software for all air traffic control and air defence applications worldwide.
ITT Defence Limited was awarded the contract by the UK Ministry of Defence for the Replacement Precision Approach (PAR) Programme. The heart of this is the Electronic Systems (Gilfillan) advanced technology GCA-2000 Radar that was co-produced and supported from within the UK. The GCA-2000 is an Air Traffic Control Landing System that guides aircraft to a safe landing in adverse weather and provides precision approach services out to a range of 20 nautical miles.
ITT Defence Limited is currently engaged in an extended (out to 2017) CLS contract with the MoD to provide 24-7 contractor support for 26 PAR Systems. Additionally, we provide support to the UK MoD Type 93 Air Defence Radars. Our engineering support facilities provide ITT with a European hub for worldwide support to any Radar Project. With the development of future requirements both domestic and international, ITT Defence Limited is well placed to become a major force in the delivery of Total Support Solutions for our expanding customer base.
